These days many small and medium sized companies are handling their own project management, be it an internal project that only affects the staff within the organisation, or an external project with wider implications.
Microsoft Office Project is a very useful tool for simplifying project management, and with a small overhead, rapid learning process and familiar and intuitive interface it isn't surprising that it has become as popular as it has.
Our popular Microsoft Office Project training courses cover all the basics in the Introduction course and expand on this foundation in the Intermediate course.
In the Introduction course we explore the field of Project Management and explain what defines a project and how a project is set up using Microsoft Project. We include the right (and wrong) ways of setting up calendars and explain why these are so important. We next create a hypothetical project using real world data, including setting up tasks, identifying resources of both types, applying costs, allocating resources to tasks and explaining the different types of dependencies, and then take it to the stage where the project has begun. We finish with a look at reporting and printing.
In the Intermediate course we recap on the basics then look at the many ways Project provides for monitoring the project and most importantly, keeping it on track. We cover in some depth the theory of levelling, the different approaches to resolving under and over allocation and the ways in which costs can be manipulated in order to bring the project in on budget.
Due to the complexity of the subject, both of these courses are two days in duration.
